Airmail



Today's picture shows the first official Airmail Flight in the United States. You can see the postman handing off the bag of letters to the pilot. The picture was taken in 1911 in Long Island, New York.

    I had no idea flowerpots served as hats that far back.

  2. The pilots name was Earle Ovington. He died of natural causes in 1936, was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea.
